Welcome to Ecas, the voluntary organisation dedicated to giving friendly and practical help to physically disabled people.
To achieve this Ecas run a wide range of activities which include tai chi, swimming, computing, art, craft, music, yoga and a reading and writing group. Our grants fund is available to help assist individuals with increased costs associated with a physical disability. We also have our dynamic befriending service which helps provide social support to those who find themselves vulnerable and/or isolated due to a long term physical disability.
Our latest annual report is available to see some of the great things Ecas have been doing throughout the year. Pictured to the right is Art client Elaine, working on one of the many paintings she has produced in the last year.
This website has been designed as an easy-to-use guide to the charity, its work, its history and the people who make it tick. Use the links above to find out more about Ecas and then we hope that you will come and join us - as a client,
a volunteer or as a supporter.
David was a Befriendee and a Volunteer Befriender with Ecas Befriending Service - in this clip he speaks about his experience and the positive impact of befriending.

Our befriending volunteers come from all walks of life, ranging widely in age, experience, interest and place of origin, and we are happy to have supported many people with physical disabilities into volunteering with us. Befriending volunteers are usually looking to try something new, to use their time constructively, or to give something back to a society that has supported them and their family.
Head over to our newly updated Opportunities page to find out about the kind of person you could be matched with.

Over the last year volunteer students from Edinburgh Napier University documented some of the great work that goes on at Ecas, speaking to activities participants, befriending clients and volunteers, and activity group leaders. In this new video, they answer the question: what has Ecas done for you?
Ecas supports adults with physical disabilities living in Edinburgh by running accessible activity groups across the city and by providing a free befriending service for those who may be isolated due to their condition.
If you are interested in getting involved with Ecas, whether that's by volunteering as a befriender or board member, joining an activity group, or being referred for befriending, please call 0131 475 2344 or email email@example.com
