Suspension of the Ecas Grants Scheme
Like many other charities, Ecas has been struggling to meet increasing demand with reduced income. The vast majority of Ecas’ funds come from investment income. Recent turbulence in the stock market has been accompanied by a further fall in income and record numbers of grant applications.
At their meeting on 13th October the Directors of Ecas decided that:
• With great reluctance they had no choice but to suspend the Ecas grants scheme with immediate effect. All grants that were approved prior to the Board meeting on 13th October 2015 will be honoured. However, no further grants will be considered until further notice.
• There will be a complete review of Ecas grants with the aim of opening a clearly targeted scheme, subject to funds being available, in April 2017.
A further announcement will be made in early 2017. Meanwhile no grant applications will be considered.
